Role Overview

As a senior 'Developer-Hacker,' you'll blend low-level vehicle system expertise with cloud software development, architecting cloud features that interact deeply with vehicle control modules. This hands-on role demands advanced skills in binary reverse engineering, protocol mastery, and firmware collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and reverse-engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries and implement custom checksum validations.
  • Master communication stacks like UDS, J1939, and OEM-specific protocols.
  • Diagnose communication issues using tools such as Vehicle Spy, PCAN, or CANalyzer.
  • Collaborate with embedded developers on firmware challenges and secure bootloaders.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in automotive software engineering, focused on aftermarket or performance tuning.
  • Expertise with Ford, GM, Stellantis, and Polaris proprietary diagnostics.
  • Advanced understanding of CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II, and hardware interfaces.
  • Skilled in ECU firmware formats and disassembly tools like OlyDBG or Ida Pro.
  • U.S. based for real-time collaboration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields or equivalent professional experience.
