Role Overview

We seek a hands-on senior engineer skilled in low-level vehicle systems like ECU binary data and CAN logs, combined with high-level cloud service development in C#. Serve as a systems architect developing cloud features interacting with vehicle control modules, processing firmware, and performing advanced checksum validations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reverse engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries through manual hex deconstruction and custom checksum calculations
  • Master and implement communication protocols such as UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific standards
  • Analyze CAN traffic using tools like Vehicle Spy, PCAN, or CANalyzer to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Collaborate with embedded developers on firmware challenges, including secure bootloader development

Desired Experience

  • 7+ years in automotive software engineering, with focus on aftermarket or performance tuning
  • Hands-on expertise with Ford, GM, Stellantis, and Polaris diagnostic protocols
  • Strong grasp of CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II, and hardware interfaces (PCAN, Kvaser, Intrepid Control Systems)
  • Proficient in ECU firmware formats (Intel Hex, Motorola S-Record) and disassemblers (OlyDBG, Ida Pro)
  • US-based for real-time collaboration
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar, with deep reverse engineering skills
