Role Overview

Seeking a dynamic "Developer-Hacker" engineer with expertise in low-level vehicle systems and high-level cloud development. This senior systems architect position involves developing cloud services interfacing with vehicle modules, analyzing firmware binaries, and implementing complex checksum validations.

Responsibilities

  • Reverse engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware, deconstruct hex data, and implement CRC checksums
  • Master communication protocols such as UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific standards
  • Analyze CAN logs using tools like Vehicle Spy, PCAN, and CANalyzer
  • Collaborate on firmware development and secure bootloaders with embedded teams

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of automotive software engineering experience, focusing on aftermarket or performance tuning
  • Hands-on OEM protocol expertise (Ford, GM, Stellantis, Polaris)
  • Proficiency in CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II, and hardware interfaces
  • Skilled in ECU firmware formats, checksum calculations, and disassembler tools
  • Must be US-based for real-time collaboration
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent automotive reverse engineering experience
