Role Overview
We're seeking a senior Developer-Hacker skilled in both low-level vehicle system analysis and high-level cloud software development. You'll architect cloud features that communicate with vehicle control modules, reverse-engineer firmware binaries, and manage complex checksum validations.
Key Responsibilities
- Reverse engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries with manual hex deconstruction and custom CRC calculations.
- Master diagnostic communication protocols like UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific standards.
- Analyze CAN logs using tools like Vehicle Spy, PCAN, or CANalyzer to troubleshoot communication issues.
- Collaborate on firmware problem-solving and secure bootloader development with embedded teams.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in automotive software engineering focused on aftermarket tuning.
- Hands-on experience with proprietary diagnostic protocols (Ford, GM, Stellantis, Polaris).
- Expertise with CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II, and hardware interfaces such as PCAN and Kvaser.
- Proficiency in ECU firmware formats and disassembler tools like OlyDBG or IDA Pro.
- U.S.-based for time-zone aligned real-time collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent expertise in automotive reverse engineering.
