This senior role blends low-level vehicle system expertise with cloud-based development, focusing on ECU firmware reverse engineering, protocol implementation, and checksum validations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform binary reverse engineering of ECU/TCU/PCM firmware with manual checksum calculations.
  • Master and troubleshoot vehicle communication protocols like UDS, J1939, and OEM-specific stacks.
  • Analyze CAN traffic using tools like Vehicle Spy and PCAN to solve complex communication issues.
  • Collaborate with embedded teams on firmware problem-solving and secure bootloader support.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years in automotive software, focusing on aftermarket or performance tuning.
  • Hands-on expertise with protocols and systems from Ford, GM, Stellantis, Polaris.
  • Proficient in CAN communication standards and hardware interfaces (PCAN, Kvaser, Vehicle Spy).
  • Deep understanding of ECU firmware formats and checksum validation techniques.
  • Located in the U.S. with a relevant degree or equivalent experience in automotive reverse engineering.
