Role Overview
We seek a senior-level 'Developer-Hacker' skilled in reverse engineering ECU binaries and developing cloud-based C# services. You'll architect systems interfacing with vehicle modules, processing firmware, and validating complex checksums.
Responsibilities
- Reverse engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware using manual hex analysis and custom CRC calculations.
- Master protocols like UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific stacks.
- Analyze CAN logs using tools such as Vehicle Spy, PCAN, or CANalyzer to troubleshoot communication issues.
- Collaborate with embedded developers on firmware and secure bootloader solutions.
Requirements
- 7+ years in automotive software engineering, especially aftermarket or performance tuning.
- Hands-on with Ford, GM, Stellantis, and Polaris diagnostic protocols.
- Proficient with CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II, and hardware interfaces (PCAN, Kvaser, Vehicle Spy).
- Expertise in ECU firmware formats and disassembler tools like OlyDBG or Ida Pro.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Must be US-based for real-time collaboration.
