Role Overview
We seek a senior software engineer with expertise in low-level vehicle systems (ECU binary data, CAN logs) and cloud-based C# service development. You'll architect cloud features interfacing with vehicle control modules, analyze firmware binaries, and perform complex checksum validations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reverse engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries with manual hex deconstruction and custom checksum calculations.
- Master communication protocols including UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific standards.
- Analyze CAN traffic using tools like Vehicle Spy, PCAN, or CANalyzer.
- Collaborate on firmware by reviewing C code and supporting embedded developers.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years in automotive software engineering, especially aftermarket or performance tuning.
- Proven hands-on OEM diagnostic protocol experience (Ford, GM, Stellantis, Polaris).
- Expertise in CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II, and hardware interfaces (PCAN, Kvaser, Intrepid).
- Deep knowledge of ECU firmware formats (Intel Hex, Motorola S-Record), checksums, disassemblers (OlyDBG, Ida Pro).
- US-based for timezone alignment.
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
