Role Overview

We seek a senior "Developer-Hacker" engineer skilled in low-level vehicle systems and high-level cloud software development. You will architect systems that integrate cloud features with vehicle control modules, analyze firmware binaries, and perform advanced checksum validations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform manual binary reverse engineering of ECU, TCU, and PCM firmware including checksum calculations.
  • Master and troubleshoot automotive communication protocols such as UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific protocols.
  • Analyze CAN bus logs using sniffer tools like Vehicle Spy, PCAN, or CANalyzer to resolve complex timing issues.
  • Collaborate on firmware problems and secure bootloader implementations with embedded teams.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years automotive software engineering experience, especially in aftermarket or performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with diagnostic protocols of major OEMs (Ford, GM, Stellantis, Polaris).
  • Proficient with CAN, UDS, J1939, OBD-II, and hardware interfacing tools.
  • Expert in ECU firmware formats (Intel Hex, Motorola S-Record) and checksum algorithms.
  • Location: United States-based for real-time collaboration.
  • Education: Bachelor’s in CS, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent automotive reverse engineering expertise.
