Role Overview

We're seeking a senior-level Developer-Hacker with expertise in low-level vehicle systems and high-level cloud software development. You will architect cloud features interfacing with vehicle control modules, reverse engineer ECU firmware, and validate complex data checksums.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reverse engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries and custom checksum calculations.
  • Master protocols like UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific stacks.
  • Analyze CAN traffic using tools such as Vehicle Spy, PCAN, or CANalyzer.
  • Collaborate with embedded developers on firmware and secure bootloader solutions.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in automotive software engineering focused on aftermarket or performance tuning.
  • Strong experience with proprietary diagnostic protocols for Ford, GM, Stellantis, and Polaris.
  • In-depth knowledge of CAN communication, hardware interfaces, ECU firmware formats, and disassembler tools.
  • Must be US-based for coordination and support.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional automotive reverse engineering experience.
