Role Overview
Seeking a hands-on Developer-Hacker skilled in low-level vehicle systems and cloud-based C# service development. Lead as a systems architect handling ECU binary analysis, custom checksum validations, and communication stack implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Reverse engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries with manual hex analysis and checksums (CRC).
- Master communication protocols like UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific stacks.
- Analyze CAN logs using sniffer tools (Vehicle Spy, PCAN, CANalyzer).
- Collaborate with embedded developers on firmware and secure bootloader issues.
Requirements
- 7+ years in automotive software, focusing on aftermarket or performance tuning.
- Expert knowledge of OEM diagnostic protocols for Ford, GM, Stellantis, Polaris.
- Proficient in CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II, and hardware interfaces (PCAN, Kvaser, Intrepid).
- Skilled in ECU firmware formats, disassemblers (OlyDBG, Ida Pro), manual checksum.
- Based in the US for real-time collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, EE, or equivalent experience in reverse engineering.
