Role Overview

Seeking a senior-level "Developer-Hacker" with expertise in low-level vehicle systems like ECU binary data interpretation and CAN logs, plus cloud-based software development in C#. You'll architect systems interacting with vehicle control modules, process firmware binaries, and perform complex checksum validations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reverse engineering ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries, manual hex analysis, and checksum (CRC) implementation.
  • Master and troubleshoot communication protocols like UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, OEM standards.
  • Analyze CAN logs with tools like Vehicle Spy, PCAN, CANalyzer.
  • Collaborate on firmware with embedded developers, assist in secure bootloader problem-solving.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in automotive software engineering, aftermarket or performance tuning focus.
  • Experience with Ford, GM, Stellantis, Polaris diagnostic protocols.
  • Proficiency with CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II, and hardware like PCAN, Kvaser.
  • Deep knowledge of ECU firmware formats and checksum calculations.
  • US-based candidates preferred for real-time collaboration.
  • Bachelor’s in CS, EE, or equivalent expertise in automotive reverse engineering.
