Role Overview
We seek a hands-on "Developer-Hacker" with deep expertise in low-level vehicle systems and cloud-based software development. As a senior systems architect, you will design cloud features integrating with vehicle control modules, decode firmware binaries, and execute intricate checksum validations.
Responsibilities:
- Reverse engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries using hex deconstruction and custom CRC implementations.
- Master and troubleshoot communication protocols such as UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific protocols.
- Analyze CAN logs utilizing Vehicle Spy, PCAN, or CANalyzer to resolve complex communication and timing issues.
- Collaborate on firmware with embedded developers, supporting problem-solving and secure bootloader development.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years in automotive software engineering focused on aftermarket or performance tuning.
- Experience with proprietary diagnostic protocols and systems from Ford, GM, Stellantis, and Polaris.
- Expertise in CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II, and hardware interfaces like PCAN, Kvaser, Intrepid Control Systems.
- Proficient with ECU firmware formats (Intel Hex, Motorola S-Record) and disassemblers such as OlyDBG or Ida Pro.
- U.S. based for effective real-time collaboration.
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent automotive reverse engineering experience.
