Role Overview

Seeking a senior "Developer-Hacker" skilled in low-level vehicle systems and cloud-based C# development. Architect and build cloud features interacting with vehicle controls, decoding firmware binaries, and executing checksum validations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reverse engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries using hex analysis and custom checksum calculations.
  • Master and implement communication protocols like UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific.
  • Analyze CAN traffic and troubleshoot communication with tools like Vehicle Spy, PCAN, CANalyzer.
  • Collaborate on firmware development and secure bootloader solutions with embedded engineers.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years in automotive software engineering, focusing on aftermarket or performance tuning.
  • Expertise with OEM diagnostic protocols for Ford, GM, Stellantis, Polaris.
  • Strong knowledge of CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II and hardware like PCAN, Kvaser, Intrepid.
  • Proficient in ECU firmware formats, manual checksum/CRC calculation, and disassemblers (OlyDBG, Ida Pro).
  • US-based to ensure real-time collaboration.
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or automotive reverse engineering.
