Role Overview
We seek an experienced "Developer-Hacker" skilled in low-level vehicle systems like ECU binary data interpretation and CAN logs, alongside cloud-based C# service development. As a senior systems architect, you'll design cloud features interfacing with vehicle control modules, handle firmware binaries, and perform advanced checksum validations.
Key Responsibilities
- Reverse engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries, deconstruct hex manually, and implement custom CRC checks.
- Master communication protocols such as UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific across multiple vehicle platforms.
- Analyze CAN traffic and use tools like Vehicle Spy, PCAN, CANalyzer for diagnosing complex issues.
- Collaborate on C firmware code to support embedded developers, including secure bootloader problem-solving.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in automotive software engineering focused on aftermarket or performance tuning.
- Expertise with Ford, GM, Stellantis, Polaris proprietary diagnostic protocols.
- Solid understanding of CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II standards, and hardware interfaces (PCAN, Kvaser, Intrepid Control).
- Proficient with ECU firmware formats (Intel Hex, Motorola S-Record), checksums/CRCs manual identification, and disassembly tools like OlyDBG or Ida Pro.
- Must reside in the US for real-time collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in automotive reverse engineering.
