Role Overview
We're seeking a hands-on senior engineer, a "Developer-Hacker", skilled in low-level vehicle systems and high-level cloud software development. You'll architect cloud features interacting with vehicle control modules, analyze ECU firmware binaries, and implement checksum validations.
Key Responsibilities
- Reverse engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries with manual hex analysis and custom checksum calculations.
- Master and troubleshoot UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific communication protocols.
- Analyze CAN logs using tools like Vehicle Spy, PCAN, and CANalyzer.
- Collaborate on firmware issues with embedded developers, including secure bootloaders.
Qualifications
- 7+ years' automotive software engineering experience, focusing on aftermarket or performance tuning.
- Expertise with proprietary diagnostic protocols for Ford, GM, Stellantis, and Polaris.
- Strong knowledge of CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II, and hardware interfaces such as PCAN and Kvaser.
- Proficient in ECU firmware formats and disassembly tools like OlyDBG or Ida Pro.
- Must reside in the U.S. for real-time collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related fields.
