Role Overview

We seek an experienced Developer-Hacker specializing in low-level vehicle system analysis and cloud-based software development. As a senior systems architect, you will lead cloud feature development interacting with vehicle control modules, execute binary processing, and implement advanced checksum validations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed reverse engineering of ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries, including manual hex analysis and custom checksum calculation.
  • Master and troubleshoot automotive communication protocols like UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific protocols.
  • Analyze CAN traffic using tools such as Vehicle Spy, PCAN, or CANalyzer for communication diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with embedded teams on firmware and secure bootloader projects.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of automotive software engineering experience focused on aftermarket or performance tuning.
  • Proficient with proprietary diagnostic protocols from Ford, GM, Stellantis, and Polaris.
  • Strong command of CAN bus communication, UDS, J1939, OBD-II, and hardware interfaces like PCAN, Kvaser, and Intrepid.
  • Expertise in ECU firmware formats (Intel Hex, Motorola S-Record) and use of disassembly tools like OlyDBG or Ida Pro.
  • Must reside in the U.S. for timezone alignment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or automotive reverse engineering.
