Role Summary – Exterior Trim Engineer

Join our team in Newark, California, as an Exterior Trim Engineer designing and launching innovative vehicle exterior trim systems. This 100% onsite role combines styling and functional engineering, requiring collaboration with cross-functional automotive teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or contribute to design, packaging, release, and launch of exterior trim components
  • Develop systems focusing on quality, durability, cost, and weight efficiency
  • Collaborate with design studios and vehicle engineering teams
  • Utilize advanced engineering tools for innovative system development

Core Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in exterior trim design (automotive)
  • Hands-on experience with side valences, sill trims, underbody shields, wheelhouse liners, spoilers, appliques, rocker panels, frunk components
  • Strong CAD skills (preferably CATIA V5 or CATIA V6)
  • Knowledge of thermoplastics, thermoset materials, Class A surface manufacturing & painting
  • Experience with product launch cycles

Nice-to-Have:

  • 5+ years experience in plastics design, aero, crash structures
  • Expertise in lighting integration, tooling, fit & finish, gap & flush, thermal expansion
  • Strong 3D problem-solving and creative engineering mindset
  • Excellent team collaboration and communication skills
