Job Description

Do you love talking engines, helping people solve application questions, and staying connected to the performance and racing community? Elgin Industries is looking for an Inside Sales & Marketing Specialist who can turn automotive passion into trusted customer support, sales growth, and stronger connections with engine builders, racers, distributors, repair professionals, and performance enthusiasts.

For more than 100 years, Elgin Industries has built trusted engine and chassis components for original equipment and aftermarket customers. We are proud of our engineering heritage, our reputation for quality, and our culture of honesty, integrity, respect, and practical problem-solving.

About the role

In this role, you will help customers choose the right Elgin products, answer application questions, follow up on sales opportunities, and represent Elgin with people who care about engines, performance, reliability, and real technical support. This is a great opportunity for someone whose experience may come from a speed shop, parts counter, machine shop, repair shop, engine-building background, racing community, technical sales, or hands-on automotive experience.

A college degree is not required. We care more about your passion for engines, practical knowledge, willingness to learn, and ability to earn customer trust.

Responsibilities

  • Talk with customers about engines, applications, goals, and challenges, then recommend appropriate Elgin product solutions.
  • Provide knowledgeable support by phone, email, online channels, and in person.
  • Identify and follow up on sales opportunities from customer inquiries, referrals, account relationships, racing events, industry events, and customer events.
  • Represent Elgin at events such as LS Fest, Sick Summer, trade shows, customer visits, and other aftermarket and performance-focused activities.
  • Build genuine relationships with engine builders, racers, enthusiasts, distributors, repair professionals, and other customers.
  • Work with sales, engineering, and customer service to solve problems and deliver a strong customer experience.
  • Prepare and manage sales orders with accurate pricing, delivery information, and customer specifications
  • Work closely with sales, engineering, and customer service to solve problems and deliver a strong customer experience
  • Help grow grassroots demand by talking shop with enthusiasts and introducing more people to Elgin products
  • Pay attention to industry trends, event activity, customer feedback, and competitor initiatives, then share useful observations with the team
  • Offer practical input on market positioning, pricing, product opportunities, and ways to better serve customers
  • Use CRM software or similar tools to maintain customer information, document key interactions, and follow up on opportunities without letting the system get in the way of the relationship
  • Help internal teams and customers better understand the technical features, applications, and benefits of Elgin products

Requirements

  • Genuine enthusiasm for engines, performance vehicles, racing, engine building, and the automotive aftermarket.
  • Real-world experience from technical sales, customer service, a speed shop, parts counter, machine shop, repair work, racing, or hands-on involvement in the enthusiast community.
  • Knowledge of high-performance engine parts, enthusiast engine applications, or valve train components is highly valued.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen, ask good questions, and explain technical information clearly.
  • A customer-first mindset and the confidence to work with everyone from professional engine builders to first-time enthusiasts.
  • Strong follow-through, organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to select racing, industry, and customer events.

Benefits

  • Turn your passion for engines into a career.
  • Join a respected manufacturer with more than 100 years of engineering excellence.
  • Stay connected to the automotive aftermarket, racing, and performance community.
  • Make a visible impact on customer satisfaction, product confidence, and sales growth.
  • Work with experienced sales, engineering, and customer service professionals who enjoy solving real application challenges.
