Mfg Assembly Technician - Automotive

This position performs repetitive line assembly to mass-produce automotive steering columns and/or sub-assemblies following written and/or verbal specifications. This is an hourly non-exempt position.

Responsibilities

• Work in-line, or in areas where tasks vary as parts move along the line, assembling specific parts and passing the unit to another Team Member.
• Work at different work stations as production needs require, or shift from one process to another to maintain line efficiency and reduce fatigue factor.
• Load and unload previously set up machines such as automated assembly machines, hand assembly tables, forming machines, machining centers, boring machines, lathes, presses, rivet machines, u-joint machines, rotary welders, robotic welders, or inspection tables, to perform fastening, force fitting, welding, piercing, machining or metal working operations on the assembly line.
• Perform product quality checks and record results per quality system documents.
• Perform process changeovers.
• Perform setup of equipment.
• Perform appropriate housekeeping and preventative maintenance as assigned.
• Examine material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.
