Role Overview
We seek a senior-level "Developer-Hacker" with expertise in low-level vehicle systems (like ECU binary data, CAN logs) and high-level cloud development using C#. As a systems architect, you will develop cloud features interacting with vehicle control modules, process firmware binaries, and perform complex checksum validations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform binary reverse engineering and custom checksum implementations.
- Master communication protocols including UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific stacks.
- Analyze CAN traffic and diagnose communication/timing issues using tools like Vehicle Spy, PCAN, CANalyzer.
- Collaborate on firmware challenges and secure bootloader solutions.
Requirements
- 7+ years in automotive software engineering focused on aftermarket/performance tuning.
- Practical knowledge of proprietary protocols for Ford, GM, Stellantis, Polaris.
- Proficiency with CAN bus, UDS, J1939, OBD-II standards; hardware interfaces like PCAN, Kvaser.
- Deep understanding of ECU firmware formats and checksum calculation.
- Must reside in the United States for effective time-zone collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in related fields or equivalent professional experience.
