Role Overview

We seek a hands-on "Developer-Hacker" skilled in low-level vehicle systems (ECU binary data, CAN logs) and cloud-based C# services. As a senior systems architect, you will develop cloud features interacting with vehicle modules, process firmware binaries, and perform advanced checksum validations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reverse engineer ECU/TCU/PCM firmware binaries with manual hex and checksum calculations.
  • Master and implement communication protocols like UDS (ISO 14229), J1939, and OEM-specific stacks.
  • Analyze CAN logs using tools such as Vehicle Spy, PCAN, or CANalyzer.
  • Collaborate on firmware problem-solving with embedded developers.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years in automotive software engineering focused on aftermarket/performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with proprietary diagnostic protocols of Ford, GM, Stellantis, Polaris.
  • Proficiency in CAN bus communication, UDS, J1939, OBD-II standards; tools like PCAN, Kvaser, Vehicle Spy.
  • Expertise in ECU firmware formats and checksum calculations; experience with disassembler programs.
  • Must be US-based for timezone alignment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
