The Automotive Service Manager leads service operations across an independent repair shop, franchise dealership, or fleet service center. This role leads service advisors and technicians, drives service department profitability and repair-order volume, and ensures high customer satisfaction through daily customer interaction and effective resolution of escalated concerns. The position offers a growth path toward Fixed Operations Director.
Responsibilities
- Oversee service operations and coordinate daily department activities.
- Schedule and support technicians to optimize workflow and repair-order volume.
- Prepare and review repair estimates.
- Lead service advisors and technicians.
- Manage work orders from intake through completion.
- Administer warranty processes and documentation.
- Engage with customers daily and resolve escalated concerns.
- Drive service department profitability and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- 5+ years of automotive service management experience.
- Automotive technology or service management coursework.
- ASE Service Consultant certification.
- Experience with automotive diagnostics and repair estimating.
- Proficiency with dealer management systems.
- Knowledge of inventory management and warranty administration.
- Experience with financial analysis.
