Experienced Automotive Service Writer (Bergen County)

Responsibilities:

• Act as the key communication link between customers and technicians.
• Document repair needs accurately, generate estimates, and coordinate workflows.
• Explain repair recommendations, timelines, and cost estimates clearly to customers.
• Obtain customer approvals and maintain ongoing communication throughout the service process.
• Recommend necessary and preventive maintenance based on manufacturer guidelines.
• Ethically upsell additional services.
• Review repair orders and final invoices with customers.
• Collaborate with towing dispatch for smooth vehicle intake and ensure on-time job completion.
• Manage parts orders and vendor communication.
• Keep organized digital and physical repair records.
• Handle billing and payment processing.
• Ensure compliance with company and safety standards.
• Support management with reporting and KPI tracking.

Requirements:

• 3–5 years experience as an Automotive Service Writer or Service Advisor.
• Strong automotive system knowledge and repair terminology.
• Skill in high-volume automotive repair settings.
• Proficient with shop management software and estimating systems.
• Excellent communication and multitasking abilities.
• Sales-oriented with a customer-first mindset.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license.
